Light is the Foundation of Ophthalmology.
We build on it to sustain the retina's natural function and protect sight as it ages
Oculox pursues the idea that biological interaction between light and retinal tissue can be both a window into disease and a means of addressing it. Today, that conviction stands behind two CE-certified medical devices and an ongoing commitment to the future of retinal care.
Twenty-One Years Working on Light-Tissue Interactions
In 2004, the researchers who later founded Oculox Technologies SA began investigating how spectrally controlled light interacts with retinal tissues. At that time, there was no clear commercial horizon, only a guiding hypothesis: precise, controlled light could become crucial in the management of chronic degenerative disorders by supporting diagnosis, therapy, and the evaluation of treatment efficacy.
Two decades later, that research produced two CE-certified medical devices: retinaWISE and retinaSEES.

"It is no longer acceptable to wait until the pathology is firmly established.
Inspired by the promises of precision medicine, we bring a comprehensive preventive approach to AMD, spanning early detection to clinical performance evaluation."
A Swiss Company, by Design
Oculox Technologies SA was incorporated in 2011 in Muzzano, Canton Ticino, Switzerland, within reach of the various academic networks in Lausanne, Zürich, Sion, and Lugano. Our team brings together mechanical, electrical, and optical engineers, physicists, software architects, and clinicians, with many holding a PhD in their respective fields, working from one location, under one regulatory framework, and within one common value-generation culture.
Switzerland is more than our address. It is the standard we hold ourselves to: precision development, discipline in process, and rigour in clinical validation. Every shipped device is engineered, manufactured, and tested to meet our quality standards, which are also in compliance with the harmonised EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) 2017/745.
Two Complementary Devices for a Comprehensive Preventive Platform for Definitive AMD Management
In November 2023, retinaWISE became our first CE-certified device (MDR Class I) for the objective assessment of retinal function. In January 2026, retinaSEES followed (MDR Class IIb), for non-invasive light therapy in intermediate dry AMD. Our long-term ambition is to integrate these two devices into a single therapeutic platform in which assessment, treatment, and follow-up form a single continuous clinical workflow.

Vision · Long-term roadmap
A Growing Team. Serious Work. Real Impact
We are a multidisciplinary team of engineers, physicists, clinicians, and software architects working from Muzzano and across Switzerland. We hold ourselves to clinical-grade engineering standards, but we keep our culture compact: small enough that every voice matters, ambitious enough that the work carries real weight. If you are driven to make a meaningful impact, thrive on challenges, and you have the expertise to build outstanding medical devices, we would like to meet you.
